Need to lose a beer belly? Here's some uncommon advice...
Conventional wisdom says that to lose a beer belly requires cutting out alcohol and fatty foods, reducing your calorie intake, doing huge numbers of situps and cardio training like running, cycling or rowing and generally putting yourself through a rigorous, no-fun routine. While these tactics have a role to play, they’re ineffective on their own, and I won’t repeat the same tired advice you can find elsewhere and that you know doesn’t work. The good news is that there’s an easier way to lose a beer gut.
I’ve watched many dedicated individuals follow traditional beer belly advice and achieve only minuscule results. Sure, they manage to lose a few inches and drop a few pounds, but the beer gut remains as a painful reminder of a life of excess. Contrary to what some freshly “certified” personal trainer at the gym might tell you, a beer belly cannot be burned off using specific twisting exercises targeting the your abdominal region.
Why?
Because losing a beer gut is more about elimination than dieting and hard work. It’s a very common misconception that a beer belly is layers of fat deposits. It’s not.
What’s Inside a Beer Belly?
The term itself is misleading, implying that a protruding belly is solely the result of excessive alcohol consumption.
Here’s the truth:
A pot belly is often the result of a severely blocked colon, caused by years of buildup of waste inside the body. When John Wayne died they found 60 pounds of compacted hard fecal matter stuck to the lining of his intestines.
What's inside a beer belly?
Observational evidence suggests this is the result of excessive mucus secretions, stuck food particles, environmental toxins, constipation, etc. Removing this from the belly very often slims the beer gut down significantly. I know, I’ve done this before many times myself. To the right is a picture of what comes out. Forgive the crass picture, but you wanted advice that works, didn’t you?
So the trick is to remove the built-up waste in the colon, and then to follow a sensible diet and mild exercise routine, so that the build-up doesn’t continue.
How to Empty a Beer Belly
Bernard Jensen DC, ND, PhD is one of the pioneers who used colon cleansing to improve a person’s quality of life. In his book, Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Management, he explains the importance of colon cleansing: “the heavy mucus coating in the colon thickens and becomes a host of putrefication. The blood capillaries to the colon begin to pick up the toxins, poisons and noxious debris as it seeps through the bowel wall. All tissues and organs of the body are now taking on toxic substances. Here is the beginning of true autointoxication on a physiological level. This accumulation can have the consistency of truck tire rubber. It’s that hard and black.” Dr. Jensen also documents some amazing stories of health benefits, accomplished by removing this rubbery matter through colon cleansing, in his book.
Another leader in colon cleansing is Dr. Richard Anderson, ND, N.M.D. He also has tremendous personal experience with colon cleansing and conveys much of this in his two books: Cleanse and Purify Thyself, Volumes 1 & 2. In an Internet article, he states, “I have always attempted to make it clear that the ‘Mucoid Plaque’ found in the bowel is not equivalent to the natural healthy gastric and intestinal mucosa. The natural mucosa serves as a necessary buffer for the gastro-intestinal wall and as a lubricant for intestinal motility. ‘Mucoid plaque’ of any description is un-natural and is found only after the body has moved towards diseased states. Medical science has many words to describe each of these conditions, but to my knowledge, there are no effective terms that describe them under one category.”

You can search online for “colon cleansing” and you’ll find all manner of slick offers for high-priced products. But try the search anyway – it’s an excellent way to educate yourself about the benefits of colon cleansing. But there is a simple, effective and cheap method of achieving the same results at home without buying expensive supplements.
- Do a natural liver and gall bladder cleanse.
- Do a 7-day juice fast, with raw, freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juices;
- During the fast take 3 P&B shakes, or Psyllium Husk and Bentonite Clay shakes, per day;
- Take Aloe Vera juice during the fast too (search online for your nearest stockist);
- Although not required, you may want to consider colon hydrotherapy, an effective procedure you can perform at home, or find a practitioner.
You should lose at least a pound per day, without cutting calories, but more importantly, the psyllium husks will be cleaning out your colon and reducing your beer belly significantly. In addition, your bowel movements will become more regular. You should be eliminating solid waste at least once a day, and ideally twice.
The fast can be repeated every 3 months until your belly is completely back to normal – the length of time it will take depends on how long you’ve been ignoring your colon health.

I have to try the fast because I have “movements” at least twice a day, sometimes 3, not sure if thats good, and my stomach hurts quite abit usually once a day.
I have a gut and I’m average in weight, and I’m 27. I’m worried about my stomach lining being damaged too.
I do drink alchohol and I know that could imflame/irratate the lining too.
I am trying to live a healthy life style as I’ve had my “partying” days, but never with hard drugs, just the natural things.
Good little write up though, thanks.
I think the reason why most people fail at losing their belly is because they usually merely follow traditional advice without knowing how their body actually works
Excellent point – too few people understand the way the body works and the effect processed food has on their bodies. It’s not about beer – it’s about understanding that food suppliers are more interested in profits than your health.
Glad I can help with a link back to your blog – all the best with it.
You may already have heard of colon cleanse as an effective cure for constipation. There is more to this process, however, than getting rid of constipation and preventing the occurrence of hemmorhoids.
All of us fall prey to harmful toxins every day, whether from an unhealthy diet, stress, or a polluted environment. Over time, these toxins can take a toll on our colon, clog it and cause a wide variety of health concerns. Colon cleanse can effectively remove these toxins, make your colon work more efficiently and reverse the damage that the toxins have caused.
