Could This Be You?

The People Who Enjoy This Stuff (is it you?)

Hey there! I created this specifically for a very particular type of person that would find my work meaningful and useful. I hope it’s obvious that anyone wanting to make sense of life in this senseless world can use this material to gain a better understanding of stuff. But if my weird ideas don’t gel with you, it’s perfectly acceptable to go back to CNN, okay?

Most of the visitors who arrive here, but don’t simply puke and immediately leave are generally seeking answers to some of life’s more perplexing questions:

  • Why are we here?  What purpose do we serve?
  • Why does there seem to be such strife in the world?
  • What does success truly mean?
  • How can I make a difference in the world?

Many of the visitors here were living their life by accident — stumbling into relationships, wandering into careers, searching for meaning, hoping and praying that they’ll get lucky in love, find their fortune and stay healthy.  They also knew the odds were stacked against them, and they wanted to learn the rules of the game and increase their odds at winning the game of life.

Any of this sound familiar?

You can’t help wondering whether there isn’t more to life than growing up, attending school, earning a living, getting married and raising a family, going on vacations, providing a service and living until we die.
Something tells you that life was meant to be more meaningful, more rewarding, more thrilling, but despite all the lessons you’ve learned in life, nothing you’ve tried has provided that stimulation.

You’re on a spiritual mission — searching for more in life than news, weather and sports.
You might be taking yoga, or meditating or have been on several retreats, but the much sought after spiritual enlightenment still seems to evade you.  You can’t seem to find spirituality in a world increasingly mesmerised by material possessions, wealth and status symbols.  You can’t help wondering when and how we turned our backs on true spirituality and whether it’s possible to return.

You’ve been divorced before and your current relationship is struggling.
While you understand the concepts of companionship and commitment, you’re questioning the whole concept of romantic love, and whether any of it makes sense.  You want to continue a life with your partner, but there seems to be such a chasm between your world view and theirs that a separation seems inevitable.

You question things that most people take for granted.
You may wonder why we work at things we may not enjoy, why we commute to a job that stifles our creativity, why we pay taxes, why our standard of living is worse now than it was 5 years ago.

Is any of this hitting home?

I know from experience that there are many people who are happy with conventional reality, where the dramas of daily life are intense enough to prevent questioning whether there is an alternative.  If that’s you, you’d probably not enjoy my work.  But if you’re curious, browse around the site, or use the categories that intrigue you in the right hand column.  Be sure to download a free copy of my book, and please interact by posting questions or comments at the end of every article.
